Frame time explains the diminishing return

Refresh rate is not response time
The panel must transition pixels quickly enough to keep pace. Slow transitions and overshoot can erase some of the clarity promised by the refresh number, which is why measured response charts matter.
The system must feed it
A 240Hz display can still improve input presentation below 240fps, but its value rises when competitive games run at consistently high frame rates with stable frame pacing.
